Art direction, design and illustration for book that teaches employees about brand values in a playful mannerNordstan is Sweden's leading shopping mall located in central Göteborg. Until 2005, they had not been taking care of their brand properly and needed to clean up their image to stay competitive to other smaller shopping malls.

Together with brand consultants Jens Holmer and Stina Palmqvist, Tamburlane art directed and designed a book that pinpoints the soul and core of Nordstan's brand. It attempts to invite everyone working in or with the shopping mall to join the collective effort of making Nordstan the greatest shopping mall in Scandinavia. A small back-to-school exercise booklet accompanies the book and was used during a series of workshops with the employees, partners and real estate agents.

The overall design is intended to reflect engineering, innovation and precision. Because new industrial innovations often have to struggle before they are seen as established and reliable solutions, it was also specifically important to communicate the thrustworthyness of the client. Structure and layout needed to be carefully designed to be able to fulfill a variety of needs and large amount of dynamic content.

Tamburlane extended and completed a identity design manual (originally by agency Svarteld) and designed a range of stationery print material.

Guerilla campaign puts
Bobby Dazzler on the mapBobby Dazzler is a fashion shop selling clothing, footwear and accessories, since 2006. The client commissioned me to market their shop. By then, they had a small but loyal following – the challenge seemed to lay in making new customers geographically finding their way to the shop.

In strategic locations all around the city we placed small plastic toy animals, repeatedly in a period of several weeks. The animals had a note attached that read I'm lost! Please help me finding my way home to Bobby Dazzler (at Kaserntorget 8) and you'll get a finders fee. The back of the note had a treasure map with an X marking the spot of the shop. Customers returning the animals got a discount in the store. The toy animals themselves would serve as a reference to the shop, as they already featured these toys as a tongue-in-cheek detail, attached to the garments along with the tag.

The result was a highly effective and measurable campaign with extremely low budget. Over 30 percent of the toys actually found it's way back home.

Due to increasing competition and a recent redesign of the packaging, they wanted a complete redesign of their website.

Visually, the new website was designed to express inspiration, positivity and lightness. Instead of using photos to convey the brand image, I created a abstract watercolor style by using the existing product graphics as a base.

An important change was to centralize the user experience around the products and to avoid a corporate CMS look and feel. Hence, the structure is seemingly transparent and non hierarchical and every product has it's own "startpage" differentiated by color and graphics. This approach made it possible to present each product as attractively and clear as possible to the consumers.

<description>Text about caseEast West Sushi opened in 2004. I created the logotype and complete identity for the restaurant, as well as shaping the brands concept and core together with the client. The style as well as their food is based on »east meets west«, a western and modern take on traditional japanese influences. The appearance balances between sobre and perky.

Below is a selection of material produced for East West Sushi.

10-second TV commercialArt direction for a short spot for local broadcast in TV 4 Örebro, created with minimal budget and 24 h deadline. Very simple concept, focusing on drawing customers to the sushi online ordering website (SushiOnline). The basic copy reads in english »Choose, combine, order, enjoy«. Note: the colors and images are off and overexposed in this web video, but looked right in broadcast.

Animation production: Hanna Gradin. Music production: Deborah Music

Art direction of a website for independent IT consultancy Biner. With the new web site Biner Consulting needed to be perceived as independant, exciting and professional. Along with that the site required to be dynamic, easy to maintain and able to hold large amounts of text as it would serve as a go-to information resource in enterprise architecture.

Tamburlane has worked tightly with Biner Consulting since 2005. Biner specialises in Change Management and Enterprise Architecture, securing the link between IT and business success. Biner's highly abstract service is visualised with images of carabiners and mountaineering: an exciting process where teamwork, security and complete control is crucial – in every step to the top.

<description>Art direction and cover illustration, for a hardbound sketchbook. An unusual client giveaway printed in limited edition.I did this while working at Embryo Web Agency. The sketchbook was intended as a unusual giveaway for their clients. It needed to convey Embryo as a creative, playfull agency and at the same time keep a strong connection to the logo and identity. The cover illustration and the choice of a sketchbook with blank pages is based on the idea of conception and creation and the twirl shape of the logo.

I also designed a desktop wallpaper (1440x900 or 1600x1200) on the same theme, for clients to download.
